This route starts at the usual spot in Chop Gate at the Village Hall car park and then follows the same route uphill through William Beck Farm to the moors as covered in the Chop Gate to Urra tour and Chop Gate to Nab End Tour.
Heading East through some fields and the farm, up to the moors turning left at the dirt track. Then along the track north to Urra Moor. After that it was all downhill, literally and figuratively, along difficult to find paths and through allsorts of overgrown vegetation along the valley bottom back to Chop Gate.
After leaving the car park, cross over and follow the B1257 South for a short distance to the driveway of Esp House where there is a stile by the driveway in the corner of the field. Climb over the stile and follow the path along the edge of the field parallel to the road.
A familiar footpath junction if you've followed the other Chop gate routes. This route is straight ahead through William Beck Farm.
Almost at the top of the hill, looking back to the farm and Chop Gate.
At the top of the hill turn left at this footpath sign and follow the track north.

A look across the valley.
Keep following the track north.
Looking across the valley, in the distance is Cold Moor which is covered in the TBA tour, along with the latter part of this route.
As the trach turns right at this point, we take a left and head East and downhill.
Part of this downhill route will be used at the start of the TBA trek.
A nice, easy grass path which passes by Bilsdale Hall and almost back to the main road.
At this gate by Bilsdale Hall turn left and follow the road downhill.
Just before you get to the main road is a small road junction with a ford. Head over the ford and take the middle gravel path of the three in this pic.
Just before you get to these buildings follow the yellow arrow through the metal gate on the left.
It's then pretty much a straight line for a few fields, running parallel with the valley bottom to Hagg Wood.
After a short path through the edge of the woods you'll be back at the field where the trek started. Turn right in the field to the corner, and the stile and you'll find yourself back at the Esp House junction in the first pic.
