The Druid's Temple is a nineteenth century folly styled after stone circles and prehistoric monuments. located in the woods at Swinton Bivouac, near Leighton Reservoir with the surrounding moorland and Yorkshire Dales landscape.
Within the woodland there are a number of other standing stones, and the site is of particular appeal to walkers, families and bird watchers.
The “temple” is just a short walk from Swinton Bivouac’s reception, parking here for a small £4 charge which you pay at the reception or via a QR code and their website.
The site is easy to find with a public footpath that leads from the road to the main site of the folly.
In the grounds around the temple are other stone scupltures and a willow arch.
We had another visit to th site in 2025 to see the recently installed Lucy Pittaway Sycamore Gap Trail.
There are lots of paths throughout the woods. From the temple, heading West for just a short distance along one of the main paths for this view over Leighton Reservoir.
